Welcome note from the Very Rev Dr Ivan McKay, BA, BD.

Rev I A McKay Our community gives the impression that we live in a day of prosperity. Dundonald is known for excellent housing, for pleasant surburban life-style and for the proximity of every modern convenience (hospital, schools, transport, shops, leisure centres, golf courses and much more). We might ask where there could be a more satisfying place to live?

Not far below the surface of apparent affluence is the usual evidence of things not quite as they appear to be. Fear, loneliness, jealousy, guilt covetousness, greed, selfishness, vandalism - all grip many lives. Surrounded by material and financial plenty, many wrestle with emptiness and pointlessness. Where can meaning and reality be found?

In our Church we attempt to address this situation - not with human reasoning or mere philosophy - but with God's answer. It is the good news that God our Maker has loved us. He has shown this by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to deal with the problem of our sin. This He did by becoming our substitute - dying the death we deserved to die as a result of our sin, and taking on Himself His Father's wrath when it should have fallen on us. In coming back to life He confirms He is the Son of God with power over death itself. Because of this, He alone is able to give real life.

At every level and at every opportunity, in our Church we want to share this message. We trust you will be able to join with us and experience the reality of Christ and His love.

Sincerely,
Ivan A. McKay
