| Christmas Presents |
|
Instead of shopping for the usual range of Christmas presents this year, why not give some of your friends something a little bit different - a “living gift” from Tearfund. Living Gifts is a voucher scheme that lets you choose a suitable Christmas card and the value of a third world gift voucher to give to a friend. The person to whom you send your card and voucher can decide how and where the voucher is to be used, for example to buy sheep for Burkina Faso, tomatoes seeds for Bolivia, first aid kits for India or emergency supplies for families in Kyrgystan. There are also many other options available.
Nearly half of the world’s population, 2.8 billion people, live on less than £1 per day. Tearfund believe this presents an urgent challenge to the church today and argues that it is time for affluent Christians everywhere to act generously. By giving a “Living Gift” to some of your friends, you can help promote awareness of third world issues and at the same time be part of a miracle to help relieve poverty.
Leaflets giving details of how the scheme works, how to boy a living gift voucher etc. are available in both vestibules.
Please take one as you leave church today.
